Some prototype designs were developed to see which one worked best for PlayStation users with disabilities.
There are very noticeable differences between the first and second protypes, like the center circle of the controller being made larger to support number labels. The PlayStation button had also been replaced with a circle as well. The shell that houses the stick has a different shape as well
Even though there are six different ones, it's likely that there are more that were produced.
